The Department of Studies and History organized a session on “The Common Denominators of Successful People.” The session was taken by Dr Manoharan, Associate Professor of our department.
Dr Manoharan started the session by asking the question, “Where do you see yourselves in ten years?” Three students, Rhea Ganesh, Manikanta and Risheek Banerjee, shared their dreams of becoming an archeologist, a civil servant and a billionaire, respectively. Dr Manoharan highlighted the importance of having a goal in order to be successful. More than a goal, it is important to have a larger purpose, a way to give back, he said.
He stressed on the fact that successful people take charge of themselves and the situation. They take full responsibility of themselves and what they do. They do not put the blame on anyone for their failures. He highlighted the importance of discipline in the lives of successful people. ‘Mind-management’ is key. Successful people find self-development necessary to realize their full potential. They keep working on self-improvement. Successful people turn challenges into opportunities. They also review themselves and their progress. They hone their skills through introspection.
The session ended with a time of reflection after Dr Manoharan briefly going over the six common denominators of successful people.
